# 15 on: 2010-11 Tennessee Basketball Preview

Overall rank: # 15Conference place: Southeastern Conference # 32009-10: 28-9, 11-5 postseason 2009-10: NCAA coach: Bruce Pearl (126-46 Tennessee, 443-130 in whole) after the start of the season, Tennessee will be able to put all the trouble around the coach Bruce Pearl set problems behind us and focus on playing basketball at least for a few weeks. These issues will come back and haunt the program come SEC play when a gem is suspended for the first eight games and perhaps even more significantly, but for now this is a very talented team that will sneak up on most of their competition. Despite losing 4 starters, there's a ton of talent that sat on the bench last year and a very nice group of newcomers who want great influence and take VOL's deep in the NCAA tournament.Lost keys:C. Wayne Chism, G Bobby Prince of labyrinth, j.p. (g), (f) Tyler Smith key newbies: Tobias Harris highlights group newcomers. 6-8, you can specify initial Freshman, wait for it since day one, if it can live advertising. It is a hard power forward who will do their work in the paint, but it also has a very nice touch on his jump shot, and will stretch the opposing defense. Frontcourt Gets additional help with John fields. Apprentice eventually Tennessee for his senior season after several other Division I stop, but he was willing to make the most of his shot at the big time. 6-9 forward was a beast on the glass, and his experience should go a long way. Jeronne Moses Maimon, transfers from Marquette, will have the right to add even more depth in the frontcourt, after the first semester. Defensive specialist and long range driving for Jordan McCrae threat and menace will battle Trae Golden moments around during his campaigns freshmen.Backcourt: Melvin Goins is the work of running and finding new go to scorers on the team. Goins is a lot of points on its own initiative, but it is capable of outside shooter and disable Defender. 5-11 Senior has extensive experience and is prepared to take on the job. Cameron Tatum would have to be new shooter on the team after spending most of last season, coming off the bench. Tatum is pretty much as pure shooter his collegiate career, but at 6-6, he is to attack the basket and will have to do a little more. At the same time, Scotty Hopson, you can get to the rim and use his 6-7 frame finish above the rim. Hopson dangerous outside shooter. It will be the main scoring threat, but with a little more consistency of his jump shot, Hopson has the skill to win the Conference of the year accolades. Add Josh bones and shooter Skylar McBee to the mix and it's deep and talented backcourt without Bobby labyrinth and j.p. Prince.Frontcourt: at power forward spot where begins the lineup is getting interesting. The Pearl of the coach has a ton of options. Steven Pearl is a good Defender and rebounder, but a bit small for four. Renaldo Woolridge and Kenny Hall will fight with beginners starting spot. Woolridge is more wing than power forward, but at 6-8, he certainly has the size to play just about anywhere. Junior strength or not and of course perform his piece on the glass. Room not dynamic athlete, but he's pretty Woolridge mobile player position 220 lb 6-8, who spends most of his time in the paint. Coach Perla will have a bevy of options and you can mix and match forward depending on competition and the hot hand.Who watch: staple in the frontcourt is 6-10 Center Brian Williams. Williams is a large body of bang around in the paint. It may not replace Wayne Chism performance in the scoring, but it isn't a bad internal threats. What will make Williams, as well as glass and Chism hit play solid defense. Until Williams can stay productive as interior scoring threat, it will be dynamic in the frontcourt, that it would be difficult to stop for most commands.Final forecast: it didn't take long for Tennessee climb from under the radar. With a set of claims to spin everyone is talking about the one way or another, but sooner or later the conversation will be about as good basketball team, Tennessee has right now. March coach his team might Perle marching back to the elite eight. Predictions post season tournament:NCAA forecast starting five: Melvin Goins, senior guard 5.3 ppgCameron Tatum, Jr., guard, 7 4 ppgScotty Hopson, Jr., guard, 12 2 ppgKenny Hall, sharp, forward 3.6 ppgBrian Williams, Senior Center, 5.6 PPG
