# 2 Michigan St: 2010-11 Basketball Preview

Overall rank: # 2Conference rating: # 1, the big ten Conference2009-10: 28-9, 14-4 postseason 2009-10: NCAA coach: Tom Izzo (364-146 to Michigan, 364-146) Michigan made another visit to the final four in 2010, but fell short of other national championship by Butler in the semi-finals. Spartans returned a wealth of experience and have a nice group of beginners as well as it should be added to another battle for the big ten title, but as usual, coach Tom Izzo scheduled hard slate for his team and the results that this issue will arrive in March, April and may.Lost keys:(G), Kris Allen, F Raymar Morgan key newbies: dismissal guard Chris Allen will affect the depth of the protected group, Keith Appling ready to fill the void. Voted in Michigan, Mr. basketball, 6-2 freshman can handle pixel or move off the ball and do some scoring. It will likely be invited to do so immediately. Russell Bird can add some more depth in the end, but small forward 6-7 broke his leg at the beginning of October and will probably be out until January. Frontcourt adds Alex Gauna and Adreian Payne. Payne is an excellent defender, and should be big shot blocker from day one if he can stay healthy. Backcourt: Snacks at the perimeter would remain unchanged from last season, if anyone can get healthy and stay out of trouble. Kalin Lucas spent his summers, restoring from a torn Achilles and his mentality heading into the season will probably be matter more than the actual damage. After leading Moscow 14.8 points and 4 assists, Spartans need him to be a leader on the floor. Korie Lucious addresses some issues out of court and injuries, but he could step into a regular starting point. Like Lucas Lucious is a decent outside shooter but Lucious is more true point guard and rarely ends around the basket. However, if you can run a Lucious most of the time, Lucas can focus more on scoring. Shooting, scoring and finishing above the rim is what best wing Durrell Summers. 6-4 11 Senior on average 3 points per game last year and added impressive 4.7 rebounds. Frontcourt: Roy Delvon ready to bloom in superstars until he can stay healthy. Caviar prevents injuries from before he even arrived in East Lansing. However, now it is as healthy as it has been a long time and should be a dominant force in the paint, many expected from junior 230 lbs 6-8. He is quite capable scorer in the paint and strong rebounder and now he just had to put it all together. Derrick Nix, 6-8 280 lb Center was impressive freshman campaign despite only average 7.8 minutes per contest. He started 16 games because he has hustle and skills coach Tom Izzo likes its big men, but now he must be ready to play closer to Starter minutes instead of just starting out. Garrick Sherman is another young big man, who should see more playing time.Who watch: Likely Draymond Green will replace Raymar Morgan in the starting lineup. But green has superb sixth man over the past two years. 6-6, 235-pound junior is at its best, he arrived on the shores of the red cedar and the heart and soul of this group. Green is always around to play and its universality, very impressive. After averaging 9.9 points 7.7 rebounds, assists, steals and 2 as a sophomore, green should be a big year and garner some national attention.Final forecast: this command of Michigan will have to rely on some freshmen, Appling, backcourt, but actually healthy frontcourt and should do better rebounding team has gotten better at glass. What could improve the most with this group is due to the shot blocking ability defence Payne, caviar and green. Neither ICRA or green high that the individually, but Morgan was more than one wing played power forward and having two bruisers in paint in most cases, should promote the common defense.Predictions post season tournament:NCAA forecast starting five: Korie Lucious junior guard 5.6 ppgKalin Lucas the elder, guard 14.8 ppgDurrell summers, senior guard, 11 3 ppgDraymond green, Jr., 9 9 ppgDelvon Roy, Jr., 6 4 ppg.
